On the 9th of May the Prime-Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan was in Artsakh to participate in the Triple Celebrations that traditionally take place in Artsakh. The festive march began from the Revival Square in Stepanakert. The President of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan and the RA Prime-Minister Nikol Pashinyan later walked in the streets of the city, visited the Memorial of Stepanakert and paid tribute to the memory of the fallen soldiers in WWII, in Karabakh and in the April war of 2016.
On May 8, 2018 the RA National Assembly elected Nikol Pashinyan as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. Guided by the decision of the National Assembly on electing Nikol Pashinian PM of Armenia, President Armen Sarkissian signed today a decree on the appointment of Nikol Pashinian the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.
After a marathon nine-hour special session at the National Assambly, the ruling Republican Party voted unanimously against Nikol Pashinyan's candidacy. 45 votes were cast in favor of Pashinyan, while 56 votes were cast against. At the end of session, the Republic Square and the surrounding streets were full of supporters of Nikol Pashinyan.
On May 1st National Assembly of Armenia had a special session to elect the only candidate of new Prime minister, Nikol Pashinyan from "Elq" faction, who is also considered as "the candidate of people ". Thousands of his supporters had been following the session from the screens placed in the Republic Square.
On April 30, student march began from the statue of Isahakyan. Passing by many universities, they stopped at the French Square and closed it. A number of streets and highways of Yerevan and regions were closed, a number of marches with different destinations were moving on the streets.
On April 27 and 28 Nikol Pashinyan visited the cities Gyumri, Dilijan, Ijevan, Vanadzor, Spitak, Aparan and other towns and villages of Armenia with a motorcade running for many kilometers. On the way he was met by crowds of people greeting him with bread and salt.
On the evening of April 26 the Republic Square of Yerevan was again full of people. Many were getting rest on the green sections at the vicinity of the Square. Many citizens having joined from different regions, villages of Armenia added on the rows of the participants and followers of the initiative "My Step".
On April 26 Nikol Pashinyan walked through a number of main streets of the Yerevan with a huge number of supporters. The following rally will take place in the Republic Square at 7 p.m.
On April 24, at 15:00, Nikol Pashinyan with thousands of supporters marched from the Republic Square to Tsitsernakaberd to pay tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
Every year, on April 23, the Armenian community of Frankfurt, the German ambassador, the church representatives, as well as German guests gather at St.Paul's Church during which speeches criticizing the genocide are heard.
